Jet lag is not fun. It doesn’t matter whether you are going on a one time vacation or you’re constantly travel, finding ways of avoiding jet lag is important to your health.

First of all, try to adjust your schedule with a week before you depart. Change your sleeping patterns to fit the ones of the location will be visiting. This will make things easier on your body and mind.

When you are on the flight, remember to keep hydrated. Avoid caffeinated drinks such as Coca Cola and coffee, and stick with water or tea instead. Getting enough liquids into your system can decrease the risk of jet lag and make you feel more rested overall. If possible, do not overeat with 12 hours before your flight and do not drink any alcoholic beverages.

Try to schedule an overnight flight instead of a day one. When flying long distances, your body will adjust to the hour difference faster if you arrive in the morning. You will also get used to the country’s schedule at a normal pace.

While many people cannot sleep well on the plane, this is an easy solution of avoiding jet lag. To make things easier, bring a pair of noise canceling headphones and try to get some shut eye. If you travel from the US to Asia or Europe, you will find the long flight hours completely exhausting. You can also use sleeping aids, but make sure to take less than you do at home.

Most of the time, people find it hard to cope with the jet lag. If you take into consideration the tips described above, you have higher chances of not spending the first days in bed.
